Saturday Enrichment Program

services1The Behavioral Services department is pleased to announce our new Saturday Enrichment Program. This program offers a variety of services including social skills groups, academic enrichment groups, and individual social skills support. Using Applied Behavior Analysis, we develop data-based programs to teach communication, social skills, and executive functioning skills. Traditional behavioral instruction methods, such as discrete trials, are combined with naturalistic teaching methods to create programs that meet each child’s needs. We are also offering companion training sessions for parents who would like to understand and practice the instructional methods used with their children. These programs are offered Saturdays at our Canton office. Full descriptions of services are listed below.

Programs for children ages 3-16: Social Skills Groups
Our groups are for children between the ages of 3-14 who benefit from learning and practicing friendship skills in a supportive environment. We use Applied Behavior Analysis to teach play, conversation, sportsmanship and other friendship skills (for example, conflict resolution). Specific skills are broken down into small steps and taught systematically. Groups include 2-5 students and are led by two group leaders. Students are grouped with peers who are close in age and have similar skill levels. Students who attend our groups may have a diagnosis of ADHD, NVLD, Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism or Specific Learning Disabilities. Specific curricula are tailored to meet the needs of each group.

Executive Function Instruction
Executive function training focuses on developing the mental processes involved with skills such as planning, organizing, working memory and attending to detail. Specific strategies for using these skills in a classroom are taught by experienced behavioral and education tutors. Curricula is developed based on the needs of your child.

Individual Instruction
One-to-one instruction based on Applied Behavior Analysis is available for students who are not yet ready for group instruction. Focus of instruction may include social skills, daily living skills, academic goals or family/ sibling relationships. Curricula are developed based on the needs of each student individually.

Our Instructors
SEP group leaders have extensive experience with children with special needs and a comprehensive knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Most groups with three or more students have an assistant who is available to provide support to the students and collect data on progress being made. One-to-one assistance may be provided for an extra fee if a student is not ready for a 1:2 ratio. Group leaders and assistants are supervised and supported by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, who oversees curriculum, teaching methodologies and student progress.

Companion programs for parentsApplied Behavior Analysis-Teaching your child new skills
The first of this two-part training covers the most important instructional methods used in the education of children with autism spectrum disorders, including discrete trials, shaping, and chaining.

Applied Behavior Analysis- Behavior Reduction Techniques
The second part of the training will focus on behavior reduction techniques, including differential reinforcement, punishment, extinction, and time out.

There is a fee for these groups, call for more information!
