Dr. Carolyn Kuehnel is a licensed psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist who earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Michigan State University. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the May Center School for Brain Injury and Related Disorders and the May Center for Child Development. Dr. Kuehnel then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at ICCD under the supervision of Dr. Rafael Castro.
Prior to joining ICCD, Dr. Kuehnel worked with children, adolescents, and young adults in various settings, including public schools, private schools, summer social skill camps, tutoring programs, vocational programs, and hospital clinics. She has engaged in assessment, intervention, and consultation services for students with a variety of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. The breadth and depth of her experiences have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of how an individual’s strengths and weaknesses influence day-to-day functioning across settings.
Dr. Kuehnel is committed to providing high quality services for children with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, executive functioning issues, social challenges, and emotional or behavioral difficulties. She strongly believes in the importance of linking evaluation findings to evidence-based treatment recommendations. Therefore, Dr. Kuehnel remains connected to the current literature and focuses on providing assessment and intervention services that are grounded in research evidence.
When she is not working, Dr. Kuehnel loves to spend time running, hiking, camping, and relaxing with family and friends.
