Garrett Berna is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. He has worked with diverse populations and people of all ages ranging from 4-74 years old, while working in community mental health. His clinical experience also includes treating children and adolescents with trauma and severe emotional and behavioral issues at two residential schools. His current focus is on children and adolescents both individually, or in family therapy. He provides support and education to parents who are in need of coaching and behavioral strategies in the home, or with siblings. Garrett enjoys working with and alongside athletes, taking a sports psychology approach, which is an extensive area of experience for him. Garrett possesses a strong history of working well with clients who have not responded well to, or who have had difficulty engaging in traditional therapy, as well as children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral issues.
Garrett has experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, Bipolar Disorder Autism Spectrum Disorders, grief and loss, substance Abuse, Schizophrenia, social skills building, self-esteem building, mood disorders, mild to severe behavioral issues, and coping skills.
Garrett has holistic approach to therapy, treating the mind and body, by coaching clients into living a healthier lifestyle. He uses a variety of modalities, in a highly individualized way for his patients: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Art and Expressive Therapy, Psycho-education, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, and Behavioral therapy.
