Janet Jackson, M.S., OTR/LOccupational Therapy
Janet Jackson is a licensed and certified Occupational Therapist with over 18 years of experience in schools, homes, private clinics, and rehabilitative settings. She received her Master of Occupational Therapy Degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2000, she completed the Comprehensive Program in Sensory Integration and is SIPT certified. She is also certified as an advanced practitioner in the following modalities: Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, The Listening Program, Integrated Listening Systems and Visual Vestibular Integration. Her special interests include trauma and attachment; ASD; Safe Place; SMART model; and social skills techniques. She has provided numerous inservices on sensory integration and its relationship to emotions, trauma, behavior and learning. She co-authored the chapter, Sensory Integration and Trauma, in the book, Current Perspectives and Applications in Neurobiology: Working with Young Persons who are Victims and Perpetrators of Sexual Abuse. She also works at the Manville School, a school for children with complex emotional and psychological needs, the Academy of the Pacific Rim, a public charter school, and at OTA-The Koomar Center, a specialized SI clinic.
