Maria Mandalos is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board-Certified Music Therapist, who has training and experience working with a broad range of clients, including infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and their families. She specializes in autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, developmental and speech delays. Maria’s areas of interest also include: post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, social-emotional challenges, grief, low self-esteem, conflicts related to major life transitions, and complexities associated with medical conditions, such as neurological disorders, and traumatic brain injuries.
Maria’s approach is strength based, family oriented, and holistic. Emphasis in her practice is placed on utilizing evidence-based methodologies and standardized clinical techniques that focus on her clients’ physical and emotional wellbeing. In addition to incorporating approaches associated with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (ITP), Maria has a specialization in Music Therapy and can incorporate that into her work with clients as clinically indicated and necessary. Through an encouraging and safe environment, Maria focuses on improving her clients’ physical, social, and communication skills, overcoming challenges associated with mental and emotional-behavioral disorders, addressing sensorimotor and cognition domains, facilitating multi-sensory stimulation, and promoting coping strategies.
