Nancy is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and art therapist. She has worked with all populations but especially enjoys working with children and adolescents. The majority of work Nancy has done has been working with children experiencing anxiety, depression, and noncompliant tendencies. Nancy has also worked with adolescents that have experienced trauma, personally and through their community, and who are struggling with mental health needs. While Nancy has a strong background in behavior therapies including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she believes it is important to incorporate a strengths-based approach. Nancy believes it’s important to establish realistic goals for school, home, and community, and to work with each family individually to meet those goals.
Nancy completed her Master’s at Lesley University in Cambridge in 2010 where she interned at the Manville School in Boston. Wanting to continue her work with children, Nancy moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she became a counselor with Metro Nashville Public Schools. While in Nashville, Nancy worked with teachers and families to help children improve their well-being through individual counseling and case management. Upon her return to Boston, Nancy has worked with adolescents in the Department of Youth Services where she assisted adolescents gain insight into their behaviors, as well as garner effective coping strategies and tools to manage their emotions.
Nancy is also a painter and fabric artist and believes creativity can build relationships and establish trust where trust does not come easily.
