Shanakay Gillespie

Research Intern
Research Department

Shanakay is in her final semester pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at UMASS Amherst. She has excelled in key courses like Methods of Inquiry, Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Child Development learning everything from the basics of the mind and behavior to in-depth concepts of training on research methods and hands-on lab experience using R Studio. Additionally, she is gaining experience through working as an Applied Behavioral Technician at LAMOUR Clinic while also training to get her Registered Behavioral Technician certification. She is furthering her training by interning at the ICCD this spring under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Dupont Frechette. The mission of ICCD is personal for her as spreading awareness, executing intervention measures, and providing support for children and families with developmental disorders are some of her long-term goals.

In her free time, she coordinates routines and formations for her Students of Caribbean Ancestry dance team on the Amherst Campus. She also enjoys traveling, binge-watching her favorite shows, and trying new foods.
